Endota Fitzroy

by Jill

This is the first review from our new spa writer, Jill. She took herself off to funky Fitzroy in inner Melbourne for a session at the Endota Spa. Here’s what she thought…

Day Spa Review

I was looking for a Saturday afternoon treat for my birthday, and the Fitzroy Endota spa fitted the bill – it’s in walking distance from my home, and just off bohemian Brunswick Street.

In this sparkling new outfit, opened in the last year, I started out my experience with a centring moment in the lush lounge/relaxation area, with soft candles and comfy seats, belying the boisterous crowds on the street just a few metres away.

endota day spa couples treatment roomI was taken into one of the spa’s two double rooms (complete with spa bath) for a luscious billabong foot massage. Who doesn’t like a foot massage! It was a fantastic way to begin the pampering, soaking away the aches and pains from those swollen summer feet. My therapist, Michele made me feel right at home. She was proficient and knowledgeable, and willing to change the treatment products from the endota organic range to the dermalogica range when she noted I was allergic to lavender (a key ingredient of the Endota range).

The thirty minute massage was a true treat. A relaxing skin caress that released my stress and tension from the week, with long strokes and rhythmic movements that seemed to go for longer than the allotted time. A definite pick-me-up, that left me sighing with repose, the work stress long forgotten.

The highlight of my day was the thirty minute facial, a nourishing, skin tingling cleanse and polish with skin-refining effects that seemed to last all through the next week. The revitalizing face massage unlocked the last of the work stress (seems that I clench my teeth more than I realized!) with the result of walking out of the salon with an unfurrowed brow, feeling an inch taller than when I walked in.

There was plenty of time to get off the table and dressed ready to Endota Fitzroy Day Spa Loungejoin the world in a leisurely manner, and a glass of water waiting for me in the lounge/relaxation area. Although there was no mirror in the treatment room, there was, thankfully one in the lounge area, so I could ensure I wouldn’t frighten anyone in the street later.

Quality of Spa Experience

The Fitzroy salon looks small from the front, but there are in fact four treatment rooms, and two double rooms. They are set up for couples treatments, and also ‘girls day out’ and wedding parties. Despite the noise in the street, the treatment room was quiet and relaxing, and the piano music inoffensive.

The layout of the salon is functional and somewhat corporate in its minimalist design and endeavour not to offend. The furnishings are simple, and non descript: relaxing yes, but somewhat soulless. I prefer more ambiance and spunk in a spa vibe myself.

The service however was flawless and the treatment was professional. The salon has a standard list of body treatments, massage and waxing. There are no ‘bells and whistles’ here, just customary spa packages and good service.

Endota Fitzroy Day Spa FoyerFor those who travel, and are looking for a solid professional service rather than the funky or destination experience, the Endota franchise will deliver the expected professionalism in each location.

The Endotarama package includes a foot bath, a thirty minute massage, and a thirty minute facial with the spa’s own organic range. Since I am allergic to lavender I can’t comment on the endota range, but the dermalogica range is fantastic.

I finished my spa experience with a coffee from the Fitzroy icon, Mario’s, and a chocolate treat from Shocolate, the glorious new French chocolatier, both in walking distance from Endota Fitzroy, making the experience a true birthday gift to myself. The location of this salon is one of the draw-cards.

Maybe you’ll want to put a twitter button to your website. Just marked down the article, but I had to make this by hand. Just my 2 cents.
